Camp Washington one of two Neighborhoods with Stabilized or Rising Property Values
* April 21, 2011: The Cincinnati Enquirer reported today that of all the 52 city neighborhoods, Camp Washington (with Mt. Adams close behind) best held its property values!
- Camp Washington declined -1.04%, Mt. Adams at -1.06%. For comparison, Northside lost -8.58%; N. Fairmount at -31.32%; Westwood -9.26%; College Hill -13.48; and, S. Cumminsville -20.04%.
- One reason for Camp Washington residential housing stabilization is the efforts of the Camp Washington Community Board development corporation. In 2000, the Board decided to start fighting foreclosures head on by purchasing derelict properties and by also taking dilapidated properties through legal procedures.
- The idea was to stabilize the neighborhood and its property values through investments, lower crime rates, community clean ups, civic organization doing good things, and a working partnership with the business community.
- All these efforts created a good foundation for private families to move to Camp. After the Board’s renovation and sale of forty single family homes, we see the results of that strategy.
